XTINCT Version 5.1 is available - Please contact support@dino-software.com for details

What's in 5.1

  • Support for z/OS 1.13

    • XTINCT 5.1 is fully compliant with z/OS 1.13 (and 1.12, 1.11)

  • Non-VSAM and VSAM Data Set Capabilities

    • The DSINITD command will erase all extents from all volumes occupied by a sequential or partitioned data set by overwriting all extents with binary zeros. The data sets to be erased must be cataloged. There is no provision to provide volume serial numbers for uncataloged data sets
    • The DSINITV command will erase VSAM data sets

  • TAPE Data Set Capabilities

    • The DSINITT command will erase all volumes of a tape data set

  • Tape Erase

    • The TAPEINIT command allows the user to allocate a single drive and erase as many tapes as need be
    • Tapes in a VTS are also supported

XTINCT meets all the requirements of US Department of Defense 5220.22-M (Clearing and Sanitization Matrix for Clearing Magnetic Disk) by overwriting all addressable locations with a single character. XTINCT also meets the sanitization requirement by overwriting all addressable locations with a character, its complement, then a random character and verifying. For tapes, the DoD only considers degaussing or pulverizing the tape to be a valid erase. XTINCT meets the requirements of most users by overwriting the tape and use of the hi-speed data security erase patterns.
